Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Statutory Change Alert

Saudi nationals counted towards the Saudization targets immediately upon their hiring.

Effective February 22, 2015, the Ministry of Labor for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has abolished its previous regulation with respect to using 13-week moving average count of Saudi nationals for the calculation of an employer’s Saudization levels in the Nitaqat system. All Saudi national employees will be counted towards the Saudization targets immediately upon their registration with the General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI) and provided that the respective GOSI contributions are made on time.

The revised procedure applies to the companies of all sizes and any previous regulations that contradicting the regulation will be considered null-and-void.
